Matchmakers Mint Krispy Kreme Doughnut Wedges Mockup

A New Doughnut Format

This latest design proposes not just a new flavour for Krispy Kreme, but an entirely new format. The brand’s reputation is built on the classic ring doughnut, most famously the Original Glazed. Alongside that, its UK stores and supermarket cabinets are filled with iced rings and round, filled doughnuts. Smaller formats exist, too, in the form of Doughnut Bites and assorted Minis.

The mockup introduces ‘Doughnut Wedges’. This is a completely different proposition. Packaged in a transparent plastic clamshell, the product looks more like a single slice of cake or cheesecake than anything in Krispy Kreme’s current range. It suggests a piece cut from a much larger, shareable doughnut, pre-portioned for individual sale. The packaging itself is simple, carrying the familiar Krispy Kreme logo and a flavour description, with the product clearly visible.

A Classic Confectionery Crossover

The chosen flavour partner is Matchmakers, a Nestlé brand with a long history in the UK. First launched in 1968, the thin chocolate sticks are known for their brittle texture and crunchy pieces. While the range has included various flavours over the decades, the two mainstays are Zingy Orange and the original Cool Mint.

This mockup leans into that heritage. The wedge is topped with a mint-green icing and sprinkled with what appear to be crumbled pieces of the dark chocolate and boiled sugar pieces found in the Mint Matchmakers sticks. The pairing combines the soft dough of the doughnut base with the specific, sharp mint and crunchy texture of the confectionery.

Plausible Partnerships

While the wedge format is new, the idea of a brand collaboration is standard practice for Krispy Kreme. The company has a consistent track record of partnering with major confectionery brands for limited-edition and sometimes permanent ranges. Their ongoing partnership with Lotus Biscoff has produced some of their most popular products.

In the past, they have also released doughnuts featuring Cadbury brands like Creme Egg and Crunchie, as well as other Nestlé products such as KitKat. A tie-in with another well-known Nestlé brand like Matchmakers is, therefore, entirely within the realm of the company’s established marketing strategy. This plausibility makes the concept compelling.

What the real range looks like

Krispy Kreme’s UK range focuses on their signature Original Glazed ring doughnuts alongside various iced and filled versions. They also produce smaller Doughnut Bites and Minis. This fictional Matchmakers Mint Wedge would introduce a completely new cake-slice format to their line-up.
