Vanilla Diet Coke Concept Bottle Features Mr Kipling

An Exceedingly Familiar Design

A new design concept for a Diet Coke flavour extension has appeared online, this time combining the zero-calorie soft drink with the branding of another famous grocery aisle name: Mr Kipling. The mockup shows a standard 500ml bottle of Diet Coke, but reimagined as a vanilla variant with a label that borrows heavily from the cake maker.

The colour scheme of pink, yellow, and chocolate brown is unmistakably that of Mr Kipling’s French Fancies. The link is made explicit in the caption that accompanied the image: “Diet Coke Vanilla featuring Mr Kipling! Would you grab this exceedingly good treat?” This directly references the famous advertising slogan used by the brand since the 1960s.

A Returning Flavour

A vanilla-flavoured Diet Coke is not a completely new idea. In fact, Coca-Cola did launch Diet Coke with Vanilla in the UK back in 2005, alongside a cherry version. It was a direct response to the popularity of adding flavour syrups to drinks in coffee shops.

While Diet Coke Cherry survived and became a permanent fixture, the vanilla version was eventually discontinued. The flavour has since reappeared in the UK under the Coke Zero Sugar branding, which has a different formulation and taste profile to Diet Coke. For fans of the original Diet Coke base, a vanilla option has been off the table for years.

What the real range looks like

The current UK Diet Coke range is very tightly focused. It consists of the original Diet Coke, Diet Coke Cherry (available in multiple sizes), and Diet Coke No Caffeine. A vanilla flavour would be a significant expansion, marking the first new addition to the core flavour line-up in some time.

Frequently asked questions

Was there a real Vanilla Diet Coke in the UK?
Yes, briefly. Coca-Cola launched Diet Coke with Vanilla in 2005 but it was later discontinued. The flavour has since been available as part of the Coke Zero Sugar range, but not under the Diet Coke brand.
What is the Mr Kipling connection?
The design of the bottle’s label directly mimics the packaging of Mr Kipling’s French Fancies, using the same pink, yellow and brown colour palette. The accompanying caption also referenced the cake brand’s “exceedingly good” slogan.
Is Vanilla Diet Coke with Mr Kipling real?
No, this product is not real. It is a Snackfish — a piece of conceptual art created by the online mockup studio UK Snack Attack. It is not available to buy from Coca-Cola or any retailer.
