A Retro Drinks Crossover
This concept pouch combines two very familiar UK brands: Maltesers and Lilt. The design uses the classic Lilt colour scheme of yellow and green, with graphics of pineapple and grapefruit slices framing the Maltesers logo. It’s a straightforward proposition, adding the drink’s tropical flavour to the malted milk core of the chocolate spheres.
The choice of Lilt is interesting. In February 2023, Coca-Cola announced the brand was being retired after 48 years, with the drink itself being rebranded and absorbed into the Fanta family. The product now exists as Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit. This design, then, already has a nostalgic quality, referencing a brand name that is no longer on supermarket shelves. The caption that ran with the image simply read: “Maltesers Lilt! That tropical pineapple & grapefruit flavour is LUSH!”
The Modern Maltesers Range
While a tropical fruit version would be a new direction, the Maltesers brand is no stranger to diversification. For decades, the core product was simply the spheres in a box or bag. Today, the portfolio is much broader. The honeycomb malt centre is now a component used across multiple formats, showing a willingness by owner Mars, Inc. to experiment.
The current range includes Maltesers Truffles, which come in gift boxes and have a much smoother texture. There are also Maltesers Cake Bars, taking the brand into the ambient cake aisle. The Teasers format, which breaks up the honeycomb spheres and suspends them in a solid milk chocolate bar, is another long-standing variation, primarily found in gift boxes and multipacks. There’s even an instant hot chocolate powder. A flavoured sharing pouch would feel like a logical, if bold, addition to this lineup.
What the real range looks like
The actual UK Maltesers range is extensive, including Cake Bars, Instant Hot Chocolate, Truffles, and Teasers gift boxes, alongside the classic Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Sharing Pouch. A fruit-flavoured variant like Lilt would be a completely new venture, sitting apart from the brand’s entirely chocolate- and malt-based portfolio.

Frequently asked questions
- What flavour are Lilt Maltesers meant to be?
- The flavour is based on the Lilt soft drink, which was known for its pineapple and grapefruit taste. The concept aims to combine this sharp, tropical profile with the milk chocolate and honeycomb of a standard Malteser.
- Do Mars, Inc. make fruit-flavoured chocolate?
- Yes, Mars produces various fruit-flavoured confectionery, most notably under its Skittles and Starburst brands. Within its chocolate lines, fruit flavours are less common but do appear in limited editions, such as orange or berry variants of Galaxy.
- Are Lilt Maltesers a real product?
- No, this product does not exist. This is a Snackfish — a mockup created by the online design page UK Snack Attack. It is a piece of concept art and is not for sale anywhere.
