A Three-Way M&S Crossover
This is a particularly ambitious design concept. It takes three separate, established M&S food hall staples and combines them into one ice cream tub. The base product is the Colin the Caterpillar ice cream, itself a spin-off from the famous birthday cake. The mockup then embeds a full-size chocolate Swiss roll, another long-standing fixture of the M&S cake aisle.
To complete the trio, the design specifies a ‘Salted Caramel Core’, a format popularised by several major ice cream brands. Here, a vertical column of sauce runs through the centre of the tub, meaning you get the core ingredient in every single scoop. The packaging uses the familiar green Colin branding, with a clear cutaway graphic showing the ambitious construction inside. It’s a very logical, if structurally complex, piece of product invention.
The Unrelated ‘Flip’ Range
While Colin’s own range is vast, this ice cream concept doesn’t obviously sit within an existing product family. It’s a one-off idea. Curiously, M&S does market a small, unrelated food line under a functional name: the ‘Flip Dip’. This currently consists of two variants, a Flip Dip Red Pepper Cream Cheese Dip and a Flip Dip Basil Dip with Pesto Drizzle. The format involves a pot of dip with a separate transparent lid containing a sauce or topping, which you physically flip over to combine before serving.
The ‘Flip’ descriptor is purely functional and appears on a surprising number of other non-food items from completely different brands.
