An Ambitious Crossover
Brand crossovers are a constant feature of the snack world, but they rarely cross company lines. This concept is different. It pairs one of Mondelez’s most structurally unusual bars, the Cadbury Flake, with one of Nestlé’s most distinctive flavours, the After Eight mint.
The mockup proposes a simple fusion: a standard Flake bar infused with the dark chocolate and peppermint fondant profile of the dinner mint. The pack design borrows the deep green and ornate clock from the After Eight box, merging it with the classic Cadbury purple and Flake wordmark. It’s a clean and effective piece of design logic. It suggests two classics in one.
The Flake Problem
The core appeal of a Flake is its texture. It’s not a solid bar of chocolate but a cascade of folded, rippled layers, created by a process Cadbury has kept secret for over a century. This delicate structure is famously resistant to melting, making it a poor choice for cooking but perfect for crumbling over a 99 ice cream.
This unique construction presents a challenge for any new flavour. A standard After Eight contains a thin layer of peppermint fondant. Introducing a liquid or semi-liquid centre to a Flake seems structurally impossible; the whole thing would likely collapse. The only viable path would be to infuse the chocolate itself with peppermint oil. This would be a mint-flavoured chocolate Flake, not a Flake containing an After Eight. A subtle but important distinction.
What the real range looks like
The current Flake range focuses on format, not flavour. Cadbury produces a Flake Ice Cream, a Flake Chocolate Dessert pot for the chilled aisle, and standard multipacks of the original bar. A flavoured bar like this After Eight concept would be a completely new direction for the brand’s UK strategy.

Frequently asked questions
- What is special about a Cadbury Flake bar?
- A Cadbury Flake is known for its unique, crumbly texture. It’s made from thinly folded layers of milk chocolate, which gives it a delicate structure unlike a standard solid chocolate bar.
- Are After Eight and Cadbury made by the same company?
- No. Cadbury is owned by Mondelez International, while After Eight is a long-standing Nestlé brand. This is why a real-world collaboration would be highly unusual in the UK market.
- Is the After Eight Flake a real chocolate bar?
- No, this product does not exist. It is a Snackfish — a mockup created by the social media page UK Snack Attack — and it is not sold anywhere.
