Cadbury Dairy Milk Gets a Malibu Coconut Makeover

An Ambitious Crossover

Cadbury’s Fruit & Nut is one of the pillars of the British confectionery aisle. It has been around since 1926. The formula is famously simple: milk chocolate with raisins and almonds. Over the decades, it has remained largely untouched, a reliable constant alongside the core Dairy Milk bar. This new concept puts that history to one side.

The mockup proposes adding Malibu, the coconut-flavoured rum brand owned by Pernod Ricard. It’s a flavour profile that immediately brings to mind tropical drinks, not necessarily a legacy British chocolate bar. While Cadbury has collaborated with alcohol brands before—most notably Baileys—this would be a bold move for a flagship product like Fruit & Nut. It is a big departure. The packaging design keeps the familiar Cadbury purple and font but adds the Malibu logo and splits the bar visually between the classic purple and Malibu’s signature white.

Cadbury Beyond The Confectionery Aisle

When the Cadbury brand appears on new products, it tends to be away from the main chocolate bar selection. The name is licensed out extensively, resulting in a huge range of products that live in the bakery, chilled and frozen sections of the supermarket. This is where the real experimentation happens.

You will not find many new Dairy Milk *bars*, but you will find Cadbury Caramel Cake Bars, Cadbury Fudge Cake Bars, and Cadbury Snack Shortcake. In the freezer, the branding is applied to 99 Flake Cones, Boost Ice Cream and a Buttons Cone. The chilled aisle has its own set of brand extensions, like the long-running Pots of Joy desserts. These products are all made by other companies, like Müller, under licence. They leverage the power of the Cadbury name on an entirely different format. This mockup is different. It takes the brand crossover idea and applies it directly back to the original source: the chocolate tablet itself.

What the real range looks like

The current Cadbury range extensions are dominated by products in the bakery, chilled and frozen aisles. The list includes Cadbury Caramel Cake Bars, Fudge Minis, Boost Ice Cream and Pots of Joy. A new flavour for a core chocolate tablet like Fruit & Nut would be a notable departure from this licensing-focused strategy.
