The concept, presented in the familiar 400g glass jar, swaps the classic white lid for Ovaltine’s signature blue. The label combines the two logos, promising the flavour of the malted milk drink within the hazelnut spread, along with a crunchy element. The idea immediately merges two different moments of the day: the definitive breakfast spread and the classic bedtime drink.
The Current Nutella Range
Parent company Ferrero has been famously protective of the Nutella brand, expanding its product line with caution. The core Nutella Hazelnut Chocolate Spread remains the anchor of the range, and until recently, was one of the only ways to buy the product. In recent years, diversification has happened, but primarily through format, not flavour.
The UK range now includes Nutella B Ready biscuits, a Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut Biscuit Tube, and a multipack version. It’s a logical step that Ferrero itself has never taken.
What the real range looks like
Nutella’s current UK range focuses on its original hazelnut chocolate flavour, presented as a classic spread, a plant-based version, biscuits (B Ready, tubes, multipacks), an ice cream tub, and frozen croissants. An Ovaltine Crunch variant would represent the first significant flavour innovation for the core spread product in the UK market.
