The Design
A new design for a seasonal Magnum has appeared online. The mockup shows a standard three-pack multipack box, but for a decidedly non-standard flavour: Halloween Black Cherry & Charcoal.
The pack art features a black-coated Magnum stick with what looks like a deep red black cherry ripple. It’s a striking image, leaning into the gothic potential of the ingredients. The concept was posted with the simple caption “Halloween Black Cherry & Charcoal Magnum?! Yes please!”.
Goth Ice Cream Goes Mainstream
Activated charcoal as a food ingredient is not new. It has been a recurring trend in independent cafes for several years, primarily used for its dramatic black colouring rather than for any specific taste. It imparts a mildly gritty texture and a faintly smoky, earthy note, but its main job is visual. We’ve seen it in ‘goth lattes’, black burger buns, and, most famously, black ice cream.
Paired with black cherry, a flavour more often associated with winter cordials, the combination is logical. One provides the colour and novelty; the other provides a familiar, rich fruit flavour. While it might be a new sight in the supermarket freezer aisle, the idea is already established in the wider food scene. It’s less of a wild invention and more of a mainstream application of a niche trend.
What the real range looks like
The current UK Magnum range includes mainstays like Classic, White Chocolate, Almond, and Mint, plus Double Raspberry and Salted Caramel variants. A Halloween-themed Black Cherry & Charcoal edition would be a new direction, moving away from the brand’s traditional focus on summer fruit flavours like the existing Signature Peach.

Frequently asked questions
- What is charcoal ice cream?
- Charcoal ice cream is made with activated charcoal, a food-grade ingredient used mainly for its intense black colour. It has a very mild, slightly earthy flavour that is usually overpowered by other ingredients like vanilla or, in this case, black cherry.
- Does Magnum normally release Halloween flavours?
- A specific Halloween edition would be a new strategy for the brand in the UK. The current range focuses on a core set of classic flavours and summer fruits like the Signature Peach, rather than targeting seasonal events like Halloween.
- Can I buy the Black Cherry & Charcoal Magnum?
- No, this product is not real. It is a Snackfish — a piece of conceptual packaging design created by the online page UK Snack Attack. This flavour does not exist and is not for sale anywhere.
