A Rubicon Mango Fondant Joins the Quality Street Tin

A Soft Drink Crossover

Brand crossovers are now a permanent fixture of the UK confectionery aisle, but the traffic is usually one-way. Chocolate brands often launch drink formats, while soft drink brands rarely make the reverse journey into solid chocolate. A new design concept inverts that expectation, proposing a collaboration between two entirely different fixtures of the British corner shop: Quality Street and Rubicon.

The mockup shows a classic purple 357g sharing pouch, identical to the ones currently on sale, but with a new addition to the assortment. A Rubicon Mango Fondant is pictured on the pack, blending the familiar Quality Street shape with the branding of the tropical soft drink. The caption that accompanied the image asked, “Are we feeling the tropical vibes?” This places the new chocolate squarely in the fruit cream camp, a standard part of the selection since its launch in 1936.

The Modern Quality Street Range

The Quality Street brand is mostly known for its large tins and tubs, which are perennial bestsellers during the festive season. But the year-round offering is wider. Nestlé also produces the chocolates in smaller cartons and resealable sharing pouches. The brand has also been extended into the Matchmakers format, thin chocolate sticks which are currently sold in two flavours: Orange and Cool Mint.

A Rubicon Mango Fondant would represent a different kind of brand extension. Rather than a standalone product like Matchmakers, this would be a new sweet integrated directly into the main selection. It would sit alongside established classics like The Purple One, the Green Triangle, and the Strawberry Delight, marking the first time an external brand has appeared inside the tin itself.

What the real range looks like

The current Quality Street range includes tins, tubs, cartons and pouches of the classic selection, plus spinoffs like Orange Matchmakers and Matchmakers Cool Mint. A Rubicon Mango Fondant would be the first co-branded chocolate to join the core assortment.
